Chatsworth Informal Traders Co-operative

The CITC is a non profit organization dedicated to the advancement and progression of the informal economy, advocating on behalf of the informal trader and ensuring that their rights, as guaranteed by the constitution of the Republic of South Africa, are protected.

The Chatsworth Informal Traders Co-operative is a non-profit organization that was first formed in or around 2019. Its core functions are to ensure that informal traders within Chatsworth and surrounding areas’ rights are protected and to advocate for fair administrative action by municipal officials and departments. And if need be, to provide legal assistance where possible through our partnerships with other NGOs like SERI. Another function is to assist our members with the application process for grants and funding via SEDA, SEFA, NEF, etc. We also focus on programs promoting, uplifting, and advancing the local informal economy and community.
